HYDROPOWER DEVELOPMENT Energy is a felt-need all over Ethiopia. This is highly pronounced in the rural part of the country. Supply of energy from bio-mass could not cope-up with the needs of the rural community. Therefore, alternative forms of energy including hydropower has been given particular attention by concerned bodies in recent years. In this regard, MCE carried out intensive resource identification in small/mini/ micro hydropower schemes for the largest Region in Ethiopia (Oromia), in 1999. The assignment, among others, included:
