BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

MCE designs buildings and performs supervision activities during construction. Among the projects taken up in the past are the following

MCE has signed with the association to design and supervise a two storey building which will provide different facilities for the members of the association.

MCE will also investigate the problem of the existing building and recommend solution for its maintenance.

• NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY OF ETHIOPIA

Final design of Head Office Complex of the National Insurance Company of Ethiopia is Being Carried out by MCE

• AWASH INTERNATIONAL BANK AND AWASH INSURANCE COMPANY HEADQUARTERS, 2000

MCE in association with DEVECON Oy, Finland are undertaking the detailed design and tender document preparation of Awash International Bank and Awash Insurance Company Headquarter building. In the construction phase, MCE will undertake contract administration and supervision work. This eighteen-storey twin office building has a total floor area of 22,500 m2.

• AIB AND AIC HEADQUARTERS, 1999

MCE has won 1^st and 2^nd prize for design proposals presented for two alternative sites for the headquarters of AIB (Awash International Bank) and AIC (Awash Insurance Company) Headquarters.

• REHABILITATION OF FOUR TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTES (TTI) IN OROMIA 1998 - 2001

MCE in association with Dorsh Consult of Germany carried out need assessment of the four TTI and also undertook detailed engineering design and preparation of tender documents. MCE also carried out construction supervision services.

MCE designed six-storey complex office building. The design encompassed architectural, structural, electrical and sanitary designs to the approval of the Addis Ababa Municipality.

• NICE BUILDING, 1996

MCE in association with Devecon of Finland has won 1^st prize for the Architectural Competition proposed for Commercial Development at the Thewodros Square for National Insurance Company of Ethiopia (NICE)

MCE has participated as member of project appraisal and preparation mission for FINNIDA.

Under contract to the African Development Bank, MCE was involved in the Appraisal of Income Enhancing Project in Malawi. Components of the project included, among others, were construction of roads, rural water supply and small-scale irrigation.

• FINCHAA SUGAR FACTORY PROJECT

MCE was involved in the assessment of 70 km long primary and secondary road conditions, quantity takeoff and review of construction management.
